Today after the Political Decision-Making: French Revolution Test, students had time to draft and/or type their editorial.  There will be more time on class on Wednesday, April 30.  Students need to post their editorials to their blog page on Thursday, May 1.  Students who aren't members of the blog can ask their classmates to sign in on their computer and post their writing for them.  If all fails, students can email their work to feeley.joanne@prairiesouth.ca.  Students will also have time to read and comment on the editorials of their classmates on Thursday.

April 9

Yesterday, we reviewed the guided notes for the first two phases of the French Revolution.  Today's class involves an A&E biography on Napoleon (answer questions pp.25-6).

April 4

Today, we continued looking at how events and issues combine to create the conditions for a political and social revolution.  The assignment for today looks at how the events, once set in motion, continue to develop.  By April 7, students should have read the example of the French Revolution (text chapter 3 starting on p.34 - "A Moderate Start" and "The Revolution Deepens").  In the workbook, complete the guided notes which correspond to these readings.  We will be doing a different type of review activity on Monday.

French Revolution
1) Complete page 4.
2) Complete page 5. Think back to the movie and record as MUCH as possible. If your pen does not write well on the handout, use looseleaf.
3) Complete page 6. If you do not know an answer, make a REASONABLE guess.
4) Read p. 11 and follow instructions independently.  If you are doing this at home, you are missing a booklet- don't worry.

Sorry for the lack of posts due to my absence and temporary left-handedness.  :)  Philosopher essays are due March 21 at the start of class time.  Students are urged to use the time to edit their drafts and ensure that they have followed all instructions.  If there are questions outside of class time, feel free to email.

February 25, 2014 - Enlightenment Philosophers

The chart on the five philosophers should be completed for class on thursday, February 27.  Students may use any sources that they prefer; however, there are resource pages in the booklet as well as references in the text chapter 1, section 2.

Hollywood Influence?

What are some of the great movies with historical content that we should add to the list on the right? To what extent do you think our views are shaped by the viewing of history based movies? Are the filmmakers distorting history with their versions? By watching them, are we manipulating our thoughts too much to one side of the issues and events? Explain.
